Can I publish dissertation content in a journal after my dissertation is published?

Journal policies vary, but many publishers do accept content published in a thesis as an exception. Check the journals you'd like to publish in to make sure. If journal policies do not allow this type of submission, you have the option of placing an embargo on your thesis or dissertation so that it's contents are unavailable for up to a year after you complete your program.
